Previous owner's bookplate. 109 pp. **** Israel Hwasser (1790-1860) was a Swedish medical doctor and professor, who became a member of the Swedish Academy in 1854. He can also be considered a developer of Finnish political science. At the turn of the 1830s and 40s, Hwasser wrote about Finland's position in his pamphlets. Hwasser's view was that Finland had seceded from Sweden during the Porvoo parliament and made a separate peace with Russia. Hwasser's doctrine of the Finnish state spread to the public consciousness from the beginning of the 1860s. Very Good. Item #1128
