The work in the series originated from vacation photos taken of the artist's ex-wife in Helsinki, in the sun of the Adriatic Sea and in Finnish lake landscapes. These private moments became material for artwork only later, when Maher developed his original technique. He melts thin images onto small steel plates with the help of a burner and modifies the melted image with the blade.
