The project is a response to a genuine need for a more advanced and deeper working process on the part of the artists involved. The methodology of the project's research evolved out of artistic practice. Contributing to that development were the observations of the work undertaken - which were made by a reference group of various
scientific actors. The project makes no claims to scientific accuracy.
Our goal is the development of artistic knowledge.
Describing the working process the project entails means encountering an undertaking that is >re-told< in words, on film, in photography and as choreographic sketches. It is our hope thaf this account will provide you with insights into the issues the project set out to investigate, into the way the project was implemented and into the knowledge we acquired as to what may prove a powerful contribution to the development of artistic work in dance.
The project has been carried out as a collaboration between Danshögskolan /University College of Dance and E.L.D. Forum for New Choreographic Work for the Stage, with the support of the Swedish Research Council, the Foundation for the Culture of the Future, the National Council for Cultural Afairs, Stockholm City Council, Stockholm County Council, The Carina Ari Foundations and Concerts Sweden. This collaborative enterprise between an institution of higher education in the arts and a professional dance ensemble is also showing the way forward for new forms of cooperation between the various protagonists in the field of the arts.
The project was initiated by the choreographer Efva Lilia, Professor at the University College of Dance, who has overall responsibility for the workings of the project during the years dedicated to Movement as the Memory of the Body. Near Fine. Item #3901
