The roots of plants, seedlings and flowers are the main themes of Marjukka Vainio's photographs. She was awarded the Svensk Bokkonst of 1998 for this book Marjukka Vainio works mainly in the colour bleaching technique. This is a slow and time-consuming process, but the resulting images are stunningly reduced, rich in colour and glowing. The technique permits a study of the subject and its extreme reduction. Fine.
