Janne Laine : Silence - Signed
104: Tampere Art Museum, 2015. Hardcover. This signed edition of Silence by Janne Laine is a deeply evocative art book that transports you into misty, meditative landscapes where memory and emotion mingle. Published in conjunction with his 2015 exhibition at the Tampere Art Museum, the book presents Laine’s poetic world through his unique heliogravure prints — a technique that beautifully blurs the line between photography and printmaking.
Janne Laine (b. 1970, Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish visual artist whose work sits at the intersection of photography and fine art printmaking. He travels widely to capture landscapes, but in his art he transforms them into universal, almost dreamlike visions. He uses an old heliogravure technique: first taking photographs, then transferring the images onto copper plates, etching them, and finally printing on textured paper — a process that gives his prints a soft, tactile, and deeply atmospheric quality. Laine has worked for many years as a master printer and artist, exhibiting his works around the world and merging his technical skill with a meditative, emotional sensibility.
Published in connection with the exhibition at the Tampere Art Museum, January 17–April 26, 2015.
