Aino Kannisto : Staged Photograps

61: Centro Cultural Cajastur, 2004. 1st Edition. Soft Cover. Text in English, German and Spanish. 103 pp. Light rubbing on the covers.

Cajastur proudly presents the 51st Salon Internacional de Fotografia, showcasing six different visions in contemporary photography comprising a diverse range of highly distinctive works by international, national and regional artists.

Two significant developments can be discerned in photography today: the use of new technologies and the emergence of new forms of expression. The works featured in this exhibition reflect both of these aspects, but with widely divergent results.
This catalogue explores the work of Aino Kannisto, a Finnish artist who lives in Helsinki. In her photographs staged fictions create a dense, precisely defined narrative atmosphere.
The exhibition also features works by the following artists: Peter Hendricks, (Hamburg, Germany, 1955) who juxtaposes large-format collages of family photos with images from war-torn regions and crisis zones; Inaki Larimbe (Vitoria, 1968), whose works can be understood as a parody and parable of the consumer society: Arancha Goyeneche (Santander, 1967) with beautiful hidden 'landscapes'; and Jose Luis Santalla (Madrid, 19%65) whose landscapes reveal themselves before our eyes to be portraits, and his portraits landscapes. Finally, Asturian artist Avelino Sala (Gijon, 1972) presents his Icarus project, in which a restless spirit can find no end to his searching. Near Fine. Item #5103
