Land of beautiful horses brings together a collection of photographs of the Cappadocia region in Turkey: its landscapes, history and village life. The volcanic tuffl and, like sculptures, was formed over thousands of years, and people have settled into this landscape most attractively by hollowing out dwellings in the stone. The shimmering difference between nature and culture makes it hard to see where houses end and mountains begin.
People and cultures came and went, leaving their own traces in Cappadocia. Especially impressive are the frescoes painted by the monks of the early Christian monastries in their small mountain shrines.
