Peko was the god of fertility of the Setus in south-eastern Estonia. The Estonian scholar Pauloprit Voolaine gave 1927 themes concerning Peko to Anne Vabarna, who was the greatest composer of epical songs in Estonia. She made Peko a human being and sung this poetic work which can be regarded as the national epic of the Setu people. Docent Paul Hagu (University of Tartu) and prof. Seppo Suhonen (University of Helsinki) have edited the manuscript recorded by the son Ivo of Anne Vabarna. Very Good. Item #6157
