Chief Curator Kaisa Koivisto's biographical article on Kaj Franck contains a great deal of new and previously unpublished information also on the strategy of the Nuutajärvi Glassworks after the Second World War. The study focuses on the collection and art glass by Franck, whose interesting work in mass-produced glass is not explicitly presented in the present volume. I wish to thank Kaisa Koivisto and all persons involved with preparing and mounting exhibition, especially Juhani Kukkonen, Päivi Kekäläinen, Timo Syrjänen, Uta Laurén, Hannele Viilomaa, Cathal Parker and the staff of the Finnish Glass Museum.
