Helsinki-Opuwo-Helsinki : Encounters with Crafts, Tourists and Women in the Local Communities of Namibia
10: Like, 2003. 1st Edition. Softcover. This publication is based on a collaborative project involving the Helinä Rautavaara Museum, a Finnish ethnographic museum in Espoo, Finland, the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and the National Art Gallery of Namibia. The project included a textile and jewelry workshop in Opuwo, Namibia, an exhibition of the workshop results at the National Art Gallery in Windhoek, and the Helsinki–Opuwo–Helsinki exhibition shown at the Helinä Rautavaara Museum in Finland.
It’s a great example of international cultural collaboration, bringing together artists and researchers from Finland and Namibia to explore tourism, material culture, and development through hands-on creative work.
